Agricultural related industries are a major source of employment along with food processing, retailing, light manufacturing and tourism. Merced County communities offer a small community atmosphere, residential neighborhoods characterized by wide, tree-lined streets and homes in every economic range with typical three-bedroom homes available for $120,000. Merced County has an excellent school system including a modern community college, (located in Merced and Los Banos) which provides cultural and social influence to the entire county.
